Can we swim in Brawl?

In the last picture of the Icicle Mountain stage, DDD is in the water unarmed. Does this mean that water does not equal instant death?

I read about the demo, and you can swim for a couple seconds. But I think you can still get smashed through the water.

I can imagine Ganandorf doing his "Down A" or "Down B" on somebody while they are trying
to swim.  :D

It is possible that the bottom platform of the stage was just submerged, and he was just standing on it.

Not to count out the possibility of swimming altogether. =3
