my dad has been really hinting about getting a laptop for christmas so i need to know which one to tell him about.

I'll use it for:

-gaming i.e free mmos, zoo tycoon, sims
-making graphics
-listening to music
-browesing the web
-homework

what i'd like it to have:

-the ablility to transfer notes directly to it via writing with a stylus
-a good processor
-speaker system
-about 100 gb of storage
-word processing programs
-a price tag under 1,200

ya, i'm looking at macs rights now but if there are better tell me

thx

oh, well, technically a Tablet PC could be that, but convertibles are much more popular.

Or the White version if you don't like black.

You don't want a tablet, trust me. And you aren't getting good speakers on a laptop.

Dell XPS M1330

QuoteTuxedo Black
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T5250 (2MB cache/1.5GHz/667Mhz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista™ Home Premium Edition
Standard Display with 2.0 Megapixel Webcam
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
120GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive)
Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
Dell Wireless 1490 802.11a/g Mini-Card
37Whr Lithium Ion Battery (4 cell)
High Definition Audio 2.0

About 24 bucks over the limit, but you can deal with that. And you'll need Openoffice, which isn't bad since most people don't even use 5% of MS Office yet pay hundreds for it.

that black one was the one i was looking at at best buy along with the white one and could i download office home and student 2007 on a mac since that is what is use right now

A MacBook would be my recommendation. Stick Windows on it for your gaming needs.

I never understood why it costs so darn much anyway.

Neither do I. Like I said, most people don't even use 5% of what it's capable of, and they spend all that money.

Why would you want to play games on a Macbook? The screen isn't that big, and the Intel video chip it uses sucks.
