question about halo 1 PC

i was playing in hang 'em high and i killed a guy and then it said i was killed by "the gaurdians" and there was no one using that name. ive been killed by the guardians in halo 2 also, like being hit by that train. anyway, someone explain?

Guardians are the things in each of the levels that can kill you, without being player controlled.
The train, electrical barrier fence thingies.

the train in halo 2 kills by the guardians.  there's also a "guardian glitch", where if you swap back and forth between weapons really fast, you can injure/kill teammates when team killing is off.  it also works in matches where team killing is on, but it is much harder to do (because you have to get it first try, or else your quarry is dead).

You can also die randomly from the guardians, when the game doesn't know what else to do with you.
