The Masked Man: Claus



A Few Words From TamJammerz...

Hi, my name is TamJammerz. Back in the old NSider forums, I was known throughout the Smash Bros. Board as "The Great Analyzer" (courtesy of SS_Dan for coming up with the title). I recently heard about the rebuilt NSider Forums, so I decided to sign up... And it seems a few other refugees did, also.

Why did I come here? Well, I came to, once again, spread my analyses for fans of the Smash Bros. franchise... And people familiar with my analyses will also be in for some newer content. I'm now providing a lot more in-depth info, details, and crisper movelists to be coupled with my articles.


This is the 6th Newcomer Analysis in my Newcomer Analyses series. Other Newcomer Analyses include:

Who is Claus?

Game/Franchise - Earthbound/Mother
Orientation - Evil
Other Info - Lucas' evil brother and commander of the Pig Army... Thing.
Chances of being in Brawl as a playable character - 80%

Claus  is Lucas' older twin, and the son of Flint and Hinawa. Claus is energetic and far more courageous than Lucas. He makes his first appearance in the Prologue. He may only fight one battle in the game but he is technically a playable character. He disappears after Chapter 1 and his location isn't known until near the end of the game.

Claus dies early in the game, but is revived by the Pig Army, and brainwashed, I guess, to do evil biddings against his will. He is equipped with an arm cannon (Samus, much?) and a sword... In his left hand (Link much?).

Why should Claus be in Brawl?

Seeing how Ness's only chance of getting into the game now is as an Assist Trophy, it's likely to add Claus into the roster to fill in the empty Earthbound/Mother roster.

I've also said this many times before... More villains = More MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

*cough*... Besides, Claus has all the characteristics to be a full-fledged fighter. He has an arm cannon, a sword, and PK capabilities!!


What would Claus be like in Brawl?

Pretty speedy, actually... ZOMG!! TEH VILIAN IZ TEH SPEDSTRE!!

Okay, I don't mean that fast... But a little faster than the average fighter. With enhanced body parts (because of his half robot body), Claus is a powered-up version of the average human.

He'd also possess a healthy combination of ranged and physical attacks, weilding weapons capable of both jobs. I guess you can call Claus your all-around fighter.

Overall Status

Power - 3.5/5 (Awww, look at those cute little arms!! ... Oh, he has a sword)
Range - 2.5/5 (... But even with a sword, he still has... Cute little arms)
Attacking Speed - 3.5/5 (He's a quick one, isn't he?)
Running Speed - 3.5/5 (This kid will be scurrying across the battlefield)
Jumping - 3/5 (It's okay...)
Height - 2/5 (Medium-Shortl)
Weight - 2/5 (Medium-Light)

Movelist


Visuals

Opening Appearance - Appears through a lightning bolt.

Normal Stance - Stands relaxed... Like the picture above ;)

Slow Walk - Takes small steps.

Fast Walk - Faster, small steps.

Dash - Sprints forward... Yes.

Jump - A simple jump.

Midair Jump - A PK Jump... I guess.

Shield - Blocks with his sword.

Taunt 1 - Swings his sword to the side and scoffs.

Taunt 2 - Faces away from the screen and takes off his helmet. He swipes his hair and puts his helmet back on.

Taunt 3 - Plants his sword in the ground and adjusts his arm cannon.


Normal Attacks

A, A, A, A - A downward diagonal swipe to the left, two spinning horizontal swipes to the right, followed by a downward vertical slash.

Dash A - Spins his sword towards the front while sliding.

Strong A (Side) - A quick spinning roundhouse kick.

Strong A (Down) - A quick slice with the sword.

Strong A (Up) - An upward arcing slash.

Smash A (Side) - Claus slashes to the right with his sword, spins, and stabs with his arm cannon.

Smash A (Down) - Claus shoots small explosions around him with his arm cannon.

Smash A (Up) - Claus spins his sword up above him.


Aerial Attacks

A - Claus fires around him with his arm cannon, creating small explosions.

Smash A (Front) - A downward, spinning, vertical slash with the sword.

Smash A (Back) - Claus whacks behind himself with his arm cannon.

Smash A (Down) - A drill kick downwards.

Smash A (Up) - Claus fires upwards above him, creating multiple explosions.


Grabs

Z - A telekinetic grab with his left arm, with his sword floating.

A (Grabbing) - A quick swing with the sword.

Front - Multiple spins of the sword, followed by a big swing.

Back - Claus brings the enemy behind him and stabs them back.

Down - A hurl to the ground...

Up - Lifts the enemy up and slashes them with his spinning sword.


Special Attacks

B: Cannon Blast - Claus fires forward a ball of energy, surrounded by electricity. Upon firing, tilt the control stick up or down to direct the path of the balls projection.

Smash B: Sword Barrage - Claus rushes forward, slashing his sword in front of him wildly, followed by a final, spinning slash.

Down B: PK Earth - Claus stabs his sword into the ground, creating a pillar of stone in front of him. The pillar will launch enemies upwards, and also acts as a solid wall. The pillar will dissappear after about 3 seconds.

Up B: PK Starstorm - Claus gains his wings and flies, with stars shooting out of him. Use the control stick to direct Claus' flight path.

Final Smash: PK Love - Claus stabs his sword into the ground and a giant, blue spire of energy shoots upwards, out of Claus. Use the control stick to control the spire and spin it around, being able to cover 360 degrees. Press the attack button to make the spire spark, launching any enemies in range. After about 15 seconds, Claus takes out his sword again.


Further Comments
Probably my worst analysis... Not a good movelist and crappy bio. Help would be appreciated ;)

I really don't believe any of your explanations, did you noted that all of your analisys, all the B moves are chargeable?

Yes, I mean, if you put Shadow, for example, you will wrote that his B move will be chargeable, so, It will get annoying and get annoyier.

I'm pretty sure Wolf and Sigurd don't have charged attacks... And let me examine all the people who DO have charged attacks currently...

he does have a pojnt, tamjammerz...i think we have enough charge attacks to deal with...we need no more...
