...Friend codes were probably implemented by the same people who wanted tripping in Brawl...

It'll be like, nonexistant, dude. Game is no longer in production, at least not at the moment.

Same with project hammer, but they were both put on hold at the moment (project hammer was un-cancelled, yay!)
