can you tell me how old it is?
It really can't be older that a year, not by much.

What kind of games does it not read? Gamecube or Wii? I have the same problem. My wii isn't one of the newer ones either.
My wii won't read gamecube discs much, and makes weird noises. It also sometimes has an error message when I'm playing gamecube
games. I'm sending it in to get repaired soon. Maybe you should do the same.

Mine made weird noises, and then it scratched the crap out of my WiiSports.

But Ninty repaired it for me.

The only problem was they took a little too long, and I had to call and complain.  It seems that at one point they were just shipping it back and forth between Nintendo and USA Radio (another repair company they use).

But the repair was free and so was the shipping.  All I had to pay for was the box.  If your unit is under one year old, I suggest you get on the phone pronto before your warranty expires.

I'm happy I havent had this problem yet, I got mine last christmas.

Why not call Nintendo to get it fix, you see mines still under warranty.

I haven't had that happen yet but I feel retarded considering I didn't buy a warranty for my Wii.

Do you mean an extended warranty?  Because it comes with a year warranty automatically. I don't know about last year, but when I bought mine NoA game me an extra 90 days on top of the year for registering it.  Did you buy it new from a retailer, or on eBay with a receipt?

I wonder if it isn't the game, because I have noticed an odd sound when SMG is in. Kind of a louder whirring sound. I have a GC, too, & sometimes it's kind of loud loading discs. This is that kind of sound...
