Yes, there is a rumor that the company that made the Metroid Prime trilogy might be shutting down following the stint where the head developer of Metroid Prime left the company.

It sucks that they might be shutting down because they would be the perfect people to make a new Kid Icarus game.  :(

There have been TONS of rumors about them making a new Kid Icarus game.

They have expressed interest in it, but it will never happen now.

Retro probably won't even make another Metroid game.

*BZZZZZT*  I hate to burst your bubble, but I have to say you are incorrect there.
What about Metroid Fusion or Metroid Zero Mission?  Those weren't made by Retro, but by the R&D1 of Nintendo who had made the first three Metroid Games.

The moment I heard that (before you, since that was on the Metroid board at oldsider for a while.  *red7js hopes he didn't offend you*), I was in total shock.  I mean, if they kept pulling off games as good as Metroid Prime games, they'd get lotsa cash and stuff.  I am still shocked in a subtle way to this day.

I really hope it isn't the end, because I LOVE their Metroid games. The R&D1 Metroid games just aren't quite as good...

This is starting to remind me of when Nintendo sold Rare.  I'm wishing the Metroid series luck, as I do not want another series going down the path that DK did...
