Uh in those parts where he is using both hands (called tapping), it is a long string of hammer-ons and pull-offs (Ho-Pos), and when you have a sequence like that, you only need to press the buttons, and not strum.

That shows how much I play GH, olol.  I thought you had to strum everything :P
