Wii issues with GCN memory cards

Hmm, my MadCatz 1019 card was corrupted on my Wii after doing fine on GCN for years.  Is this Nintendo's fault or MadCatz fault?

Could be either. Or maybe both.
MadCatz memory cards tend to be too unreliable to do fine for years when judging from experiences of people I know. But breaking only when playing on Wii might hint at it being Nintendo's fault.
