Story: Well, I've been thinking about Flash animations and games for quite awhile now. Now I'm starting to wonder how it all works. Why I want to know is because I want to make one. I have never made one before though. I don't even have a program which I can make one. So here I ask of NSFCD to help me out. I am a total, well, newbie, noob, whatever at this so bear with me through these questions.

Questions: Which is the best program if there is more than one? (I've only seen Adobe Flash Professional and their different types, but I don't know if there is another flash programmer.) What are the best system requirements? Do I need any special equipment or other programs to make flash other than the necessities of a regular computer? "Edited into" questions: Can you give me any tutorials?

If you need more information, please ask. I'll try to be on as often as I can to give comments to all other comments and answers. As some may know, I don't get on often at all. Thanks ahead of time.

Adobe Flash, formerly under the brand name Macromedia, is the only real creator for Flash animations/games. Some imitations with very low feature set may exist, but they're not worth considering as far as I know. Creating animations is simple enough with the GUI and all, though they do take quite a bit of time to make, but to make games you need to learn how to use a programming language called Actionscript.
Abobe Flash works on both Windows and Mac; probably works under Wine on Linux too.
It doesn't need all that high system requirements. No special equipment is needed. Highish CPU speed and RAM amount does make Flash run smoother.

Alright, thank you. One other question, from what I looked up, does it really cost $699 for the latest one, new?

uh, I thought it was around $350 or $400, did they raise the price D:

Like PS, though, I think more people pirate it.  I have a legal copy of Flash 8 Pro but someone gave it to me for free because his school gave it to him for free and he already had it.  Just got lucky.

Okay. Thanks for all your help. I do not have that much money at the moment so I guess I'll just hold it off for now. Thanks again.

A lot of schools have Flash and stuff, or at least mine has the whole Adobe suite thingy with everything. If it's at yours, give it a try for sure.

Have a friend who can help, it intimidated me when I first saw it, even though it's not that bad... >.>

The Game Boy Pocket.
Put it in your back pocket.
Sit down and it breaks.

You could always download the trial edition for free and test it out.

Our school is poor and blocks a helluva lot of websites. Well, they do at least have like a web site designing class and stuff kind of like that. But I heard it's just a blow off class. Maybe I'll look deeper into what our school has.

Right. Although I'm worried that I'll be too busy to use the trial to its full potential. I'll keep it in thought.
