RUMOR: Downloadable GBA/GB games coming to DSi

That would be very nice. I could play games I never got a chance to try, like Link's Awakening.

Not in rumor form, but weren't we discussing this possibility back when the DSi and DSiWare was first announced?
It's not really been completely confirmed, so I'm not taking the possibility much more than I was initially.

I wonder if they'll make any interconnection features between GB/A games and DS games. Notably, if they actually have GBA games in the shop, using them as the slot-2 for games like Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum? Having a max cart size of about 32MB does make it a realistic download (even if it's only one generation back), unlike the 1.5GB GCN disc.

As exciting as it may be, this still doesn't explain how we'll be able to transfer pokemon from GBA versions to Diamond, Pearl or Platinum. Or even use the Dongle effect.

I still like this idea a lot though, and believe this makes up greatly for the removal of the slot.

Whether or not it has much likelyhood of being included is another story, but in theory, it's possible for the DSi's software to virtually "mount" a GBA-VC game to a fake slot-2 while a DS game is being played. Essentially, making the DS game think the VC game is a real cart.
Ever used a PC ISO mounting program like Daemon Tools? That's the simplest thing I could compare it to.

I really wish Nintendo would start thinking these things through early on, instead of just trying to rush through to make money. Which we all know will never happen.
