my headset doesn't work properly :\

it works when I plug the headset's mic & speaker cables directly into the computer.

However, if I plug it into the USB adapter, then plug the USB adapter into the computer, it doesn't work (I want it to work this way because my mic & speaker plug-ins are at the bottom of my computer and the cords stab me in the stomach if I plug the headset directly into the computer).
