A Change Of Clothes? (Games)

I've been playing games, and it made me wonder... Why always the same clothes? Little obvious to make the character wear the same outfit per game, but I don't mean completely change wardrobe, I just mean get new clothes for the climate. Like in Platinum, it got colder so the hero was in different clothes, but that was the whole game. And Super Mario Sunshine, Mario was wearing short sleeves. I am currently playing Paper Mario (again), in Shiver City listening to people talk about Jr. Troopa complaining about the coldness, then I think, why isn't Mario cold?
So yeah, I was thinking maybe in future games there could be slight wardrobe changes to match the climate so the character wouldn't freeze or burn to death. The changes that could be made are putting them in short sleeves/shorts/skirts ect., or for cold it could be longer sleeves/sweater/long pants/sweat pants and maybe a scarf. Nothing major, nothing to completely change the look.

Well, Mario wore a short-sleeved shirt in Sunshine.
I guess it would be a nice thing to have, characters having clothes for different climates.
