Some of you may have heard me whining about how I can't get Starcraft installed.

Well, I'm at the point where I'm screaming in anger about it. It's my favorite PC game, after all.

I am running an almost fresh install of Windows Vista Home Premium, and whenever I try to install the game with the regular installation values, I run into this error that aborts the installation:

I've tried almost everything I could think of, including...
-Running in compatibility mode
-Running with administrator rights
-Running in safe mode

If you can help me out, then you will receive a very nice reward.

Are you running it from an iso or did you burn the disc image to an actual CD?

Firewall an issue? Or perhaps Defender specifically?

Disable UAC altogether~
Has nothing to do with UAC.

I doubt it's a firewall issue, because it's not making any connections to the internet, or receiving any. As for Defender, I'm not entirely keen on what it does.

Macawmoses

Defender is M$'s lovely firewall thinger....meaning a fresh install and it's still likely kicking in. "BREATHE: CANCEL OR ALLOW?"

You'd be surprised.

Try creating the folder its trying to make yourself, and then run the exe.

Tried that already.

I already had had UAC disabled, by the way.

install it on a different computer and copy files over?

Is Windows installed in C:\?
If it's a fresh installation on multiboot, it likely isn't, in which case you might want to change the installation directory from default.

You do realize that using excessive alliteration is a hallmark of faggotry, yes?

I'm more of an enthusiast of assonance, actually.
