Bibarel
Normal/Water
Simple/Unaware
NU

Ah, Bibarel. Formerly an UU, Bibarel has fallen down down down into the tiers of never used. Likely because everything it can do...someone outshines it at. However, I have seen a few of these little devils used, and the key tends to lie in its abilities - doubling its own effects, or ignoring that of others.

Headbutt and twave are options to really cause some status ailments and hope for luck. Super Fang and Curse (note the double effect) are there to cause some damage, while Waterfall, Ice Bean, Grass Knot, and Taunt could be there to brew some issues for you.

Really, Bibarel doesn't have the best of stats, and it can be outclassed by others...but a good Curse setup, or attempt at some type of sweep/status, can happen. Really, Bibarel's descent scared me, as it really is a fun Pok?mon to use. But, understandable.

Thoughts?

Curse/Defense Curl/Roll-out/Quick Attack.

Ice bean, lol.
Bibarel is one of the beginning commons (well not him, but Bidoof is), which I usually don't like to use, there is usually 1 beginning common that I will use, but mostly not.
Though I've never used him as one, I've only thought of Bibarel as more of an HM slave.
Even though he's a beaver, I was surprised he was Normal/Water. But it's no longer much of a shocker.

Terrible shame. He is NU because of that philosophy. D:

Do a Bibarel Roll!

I actually faced a few good Bibarels in Shoddy.

Yeah, I've seen a good number of them too. What always impresses is that were all rather varied.

never really considered using him competitively. He's really useful as an hm slave though.

What does its nature do again?
Simple doubles stat boosts or drops.

Unaware, on the other hand, let's Bibarel bypass stat boosts (and sadly drops) on others. Can be a great way to stick a fork in a Baton Pass team.

Simple is really the only reason to use Bibarel in any tier imo. Yeah it hampers BP teams like Mack said but chances are they have something to deal with him quickly anyway.
With Simple, any stat up move you send in is basically making you god-like. Really, I think he gets the most out of Amnisia + Curse/Defense Curl since you completely stop thunderbolt in one turn then you can handle fighting attacks the rest of the way. Really I think something like Amnisia/Defense Curl/Charge Beam/Ice Beam could work similar to the Clefable set Ret made (Cosmic Power/Softboiled/Charge Beam/Ice Beam). Even though you lack recovery, by the time you pull up the stats, leftovers could handle it I'd assume.

There's my contribution to today's pokemon. :)

All its good for is the role of the HM whore...seriously

It's design is ridiculous too. It's probably the lamest pokemon out right now.

I don't really know what to say about it. I've never used it  D=
Tauntarel seems good.

It can be really good in UU...but...it's rather predictable.
