Stepping up the ID Check

Before not too long ago, I could get into R rated movies without an adult, an ID, or any other sort of permission. I saw The Strangers, Knocked Up, Superbad, among by just strolling through, presenting my money, and that was that. Now? The theater I go to isn't dancing to the same song. Getting into Role Models proved extremely difficult. First we couldn't get a ticket because we didn't have an ID. Second, when we got my mom to come in and buy a ticket with us, then leave after we got into the theater, someone from security came in and kicked us out. Now this I don't understand. We obviously had permission. Just because my mother isn't sitting next to me and watching the movie I can't see it? Finally we found this middle-aged couple who were going to see the same movie, and they brought us in as their friend's kids. But after the second attempt to get into the movie, I think we should have been solid. Having to have someone practically sneak us in shouldn't have had to have been an issue.

Even more recently, I tried to see The Hangover. No dice. This time around I couldn't get a hold of my parents to come to the theater and yell at the ticket taker. I was so mad off and upset about the whole thing I didn't try the usual sneak-in tactics. I decided I'll watch it when it comes out on DVD, or find it online. You need to be 17 in order to see a rated R movie. They never used to make a big deal about it, but suddenly (sometime after the whole economy issue...) they're cracking their whips. What's up with this? And has anyone else encountered issues with the whole ID checking, "you can't come in without an ID" issue?

Also, tips on how to prevent this would be nice. No, I'm not getting a fake ID. It's not worth my time and troubles that much...

And I don't have any problems with ID checks since I'm 18.

Ha, I'm 17, no issue there... You could ask for tickets to a movie that's rated lower, then sneak into the R-rated movie. Works here. xD

Oh yeah I did that for Public Enemies a couple weekends ago. Well, I saw My Sister's Keeper, then Public Enemies was starting as that movie was ending, so I sneaked into that and watched it, too.

And I didn't think Role Models was a bad movie. The Hangover has been top at the Box Office for a while. I am going to see that movie. It's just a matter of at the movies or at home...

No, I'm 16. I had always thought that being 16 would be perfect; I could do anything but legally drink and vote. Now I'm realizing 17 is the age I need to be in order to be able to do a normal thing like go to the movies.

speaking of My Sister's Keeper... Have you read the book? They completely changed the ending in order to give mass appeal. -_-

I didn't read the book, but someone explained the whole thing at a party to me. I think the ending of the book sounds better, but I didn't read it myself so I'm not completely sure.

My boyfriend is really tall (like over 6 feet), and they still ask him for his ID for proof.

yeah height doesn't really matter they usually ID checked me (6'4).....it really just depends on how old you look.
