Well, ladies and gentlemen, my warranty runs out in 4 days.  I called today to renew the warranty for another year.

So I ask them how much it would be.

450 FUCKING DOLLARS. FOR ONE YEAR.

and their excuse is "oh, but sir, the parts are very expensive and are hard to find anywhere else!"

Fuck that.  I can get them off of eBay if I need them badly enough.  I can have a local shop order them in.

Even with the history of this computer sitting right in front of his intercourse ing face, this guy doesn't even admit that they've built a poopty computer and shipped it out mindlessly.  At the very least, I should be given a free extension of warranty.  With this thing's track record, it'll be dead in the next few months, but FUCK THAT, I'll buy an HP.

FUCKING DELL

/rant much?

And I agree with you about the warrantee price. Who wouldn't? (even Dell employees if they were buying a computer.)

You think that will solve anything?

I, on the other hand, have been using Dells for going on 10 years now.  My last Dell lasted me 8 years, and this one is about to make 2 years in June.

Tough luck, bro.

of course not, but it's better to warn friends of treachery than to attack your enemies full on.

You should probably get one built on ecollegepc.com if you can't handle dealing with companies.  And if you think you can get parts off of eBay, why did you bother with warranty anyway?

The computer I'm using now has been lucky with stability, I guess. As of the end of 2005 when purchased it was dell's oldest model still being newly manufactured (Dimension 2400) and all I've done to it hardware-wise is upgrade the video card, hard drive, RAM, and network card.

I'll hopefully be able to buy the parts to build a second computer with by the end of the year (see my thread), and then I won't be using anything Dell besides the huge CRT monitor.

I've got a Dell desktop, and it sucks. Sometimes it will go through a phase where it won't turn on, or it won't get past the BIOS splash screen...all sorts of crap.

because the parts ARE hard to get at.  Frankly, I'd rather just get a new laptop that doesn't make the room its in feel like a intercourse ing sauna every time you turn it on.  I bothered with warranty because it was a 1 year free warranty.  450 dollars just isn't worth it.

I had 2 Dell Optiplex GX110's and they worked fine except the VGA port on one Motherboard breaking (which I didn't know you could fix by buying a new graphics card); and They probably would stil work if I had them.

Eitherway, the first computer I've gotten for myself has been fine for the last.... 3 weeks now? But its an HP, and 3 weeks is hardly old.

i dont think ive had a problem with dell desktops, except for the motherboard of one dying after only two years.  but this laptop is just extremely badly made.
