Tom and Jerry Question

Tom and Jerry, one of the most kickass cartoons in existence. But I've wondered for a long time.
Does it have many different writers or something? I mean, there are many different kinds of episodes, some where Tom's owner is a fat white man who is easily angered, some with a fat black woman who's face is always hidden, and there are many other different little themes that appear. So yeah, does it have many different writers? or is the writer just weird? (or other option?)

It has different writers since the cartoons went on for so long.
As far as the main series goes I don't think there's meant to be any continuity, which is why the owner constantly changes.

It is an awesome cartoon, and according to the linked Wikipedia article, the original series' writers were William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

I also agree with Nayrman. There isn't much continuity between the episodes. If there is, I think it's just between the major and minor characters' relations.
