I'm installing it on the desktop downstairs because it poop itself after I tried installing AVG from a torrent.  Yes, you read that correctly, I wanted a paid AVG without paying for it as Norton 360 sucked (it didn't even detect the virus on the AVG I torrented).  Anyway, I would like some helpful hints, tips, and maybe links to general tutorials so I can get used to Ubuntu quickly.

Their forums might be a tad slow, but very helpful.

Learn some key things about the terminal, such as "sudo" and "apt-get install" and that pressing tab auto completes and if it can't auto complete will give you a list of commands.

Most of the time you don't go out on a website to get an application like you would in windows. You go to either the Ubuntu Add/Remove apps thing under the Applications menu or Synaptic package manager in the System>Administration menu

And if you must go out and download files from the internet, download .deb as they install just like an .exe would
