Like today I come into school library.  "Can I borrow X history book to work on homework?"  The Librarian scurries into the back and comes out with a book.  "No, I mean X, the History book that Y teacher uses for US History."  Oh, this is it, the teacher assures me.  "No, it isn't; The book I'm looking for it titled X."  Oh...  The librarian scuttles off again to the back.  Is this it?  "No, it's titled 'X'."  Well this must be it because this is all we have, the Librarian retorts.

Thing is, I know they have some, they're just too stupid to go and get them from the back, and won't let me go and get it myself.  So now I have no homework done. :U

Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage.

Most people in customer service know exactly what they're doing and want to either provide better service but are hog-tied by a company-mandated script and regulations, or they're sadists and get off on your suffering. One of the few cases where Hanlon's Razor doesn't work all that well. Just saying.
