...It's the apathy of our users. What happened? We were going fairly well last month and even better the month before. Now we're just...barely going at all. What caused this sudden shift?

TK gave me Staff and coaxed me into downloaded programs to make my computer run slower.

...but in actuality, I'm not sure what caused this. In my case, I'm just inattentive at the moment. Not to mention, we've lost four of our legendary members, and a couple of users were forced to leave/have vacation.

I'm still here... though my existence is unappreciated. ( ._.)
I really hate how I've made more than 12,000 posts here. Thankfully this swaying, moving Chandelure makes it all worth it.

The tides of user activity.  They roll in, they roll out.  You can try to bucket as much as you can up onto the shore, but you can't stop the tides.

THE TIDES.

3 of my friends smoke weed. Why? Well I asked one time, and this is what they said: "Because I can blow out smoke and it makes me feel like a intercourse ing dragon"

There's a simple reason for an activity drop on every forum: it's summer. A lot of users leave the forums at the time they have exams and since a lot of users were gone, not a lot of users are going to come back. Lack of activity causes an even bigger lack of activity. The summer is a vicious evil feedback circle you, as a forum admin, cannot escape from.

That and forums are dying out as a whole.

I disagree with that last statement Pote. While one can argue that forums are losing to social networking, which is true on a personal connection basis, they're not dying in the slightest. There is a huge boom in literature, technology, and specialty forums right now. People want to go on them, ask a question, get an answer, and go. That's because forum administration is failing to do what it once did: offer a community. I've seen several forums boom quite recently, however. We're seeing a Post-NSider forum depression...that's because many of us that cared enough to find a replacement for NSider are "outgrowing" using forums for socializing (in the same way we did in 2007). So, again, it's not that the forum scene is dying...it's that our particular realm of forums are. Forums as a whole are also reverting to the Q+A model over a community model (it ebbs and flows).
