Thane, Mordin, Miranda, and Grunt died. I was trying to keep them alive through the ending. How the hell is one supposed to have them all survive? I was basically a pure paragon and I had upgraded almost all of their poop.

Does anyone know how to keep everybody alive?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you probably can't help me. Fuck Google, I'd rather hear from people here.

I'll give you a layout for this then. Just read whatever you want to know.
Ship upgrades to keep them alive for the first part. Then just get everyone's specialty.
Example. The first part where you have someone disengage the locks for you. You need a tech specialist for it. AKA Legion and Tali. Your leader who should get your other groups is Garruk. I have never had anyone die with Garruk. Your biotic specialists are Jack and your Asari (whoever you kept alive). Just whatever you do, don't listen to Miranda. She's a dumbass. Also, for keeping people from the ship alive, go for the doctor (can't think of his name). I sent Thane one time and everyone survived, but the doctor died at the battle.

PREREQUISITES:
-All party members should be loyal. It is possible but significantly harder to do with one or two disloyal teammates. Legion's mission should always be done last because otherwise it triggers the abduction of your crew.

Part I:
Tech Specialist: A loyal Tali, Legion, or Kasumi.
Fire Team Leader: A loyal Jacob, Miranda, or Garrus. (Do NOT use Zaeed)

Saving your crewmates (Kelly, Chakwas)

-You need to immediately proceed through the Omega-4 Relay and not do any side missions, otherwise you'll start losing crew members. Kelly is on the chopping block after two.

Crewmember escort:
-Loyal Mordin (will explain why at "Hold the Line")

Part II:
Biotic Specialist: A loyal Jack or Samara. (Do NOT use Thane. Do NOT use Miranda.)
Fire Team Leader: Again, loyal Jacob, Garrus, or Miranda.

Hold the Line:
-Who dies in this part is determined by a predefined hidden attribute called "defense rating" which allows teammates to defend themselves and other squadmates. Mordin has the lowest rating in this category followed by Tali, Kasumi, and Jack, so it's a good idea to send Mordin back to the ship so that he doesn't get killed.

The highest defense ratings are Grunt, followed by Garrus and Zaeed in that order. You will want to leave at least one of these characters back for every "low defense rating" character you have holding the line.

What I normally do is take either Tali or Kasumi along for the final confrontation so that there are two "bad" defenders holding the line and at least 2 of the 3 "good" defenders to assist them.

Aftermath of Final Boss Battle:
-The teammates that you brought with to the final boss will survive the cutscene if they are loyal.

I wonder who the main character will be without Shepard. Another create a character?
