As a note, I'm all for gun rights, and even believe someone that has mental issues can own one. But given the circumstances of Loughner, where he was perceived as potentially violent, it's somewhat concerning.
I'm fine with gun rights too, to an extent. I should have been more specific: Some mental issues aren't as dangerous, in which case, owning a handgun wouldn't be a terrible thing. But yeah, the potential violence thing is enough to be a little nervous about someone like that owning a gun. I just don't think handguns should be given out like candy, either. I don't want EVERYONE having them (or even the majority at least) but the responsible people deserve that right.

Except, in our society it doesn't work that way. There's no way of knowing whether someone's nonviolent and responsible or building up enough anger to kill a first victim (Every serial killer has to start somewhere, even if they have no prior criminal record at all before their first murder), but I digress.

I think the whole getting a gun license thing should be as difficult to get anywhere as it is in New York. Not that I want it to be "difficult," but I think the requirements should be this strict anywhere.
I really hate how I've made more than 12,000 posts here. Thankfully this swaying, moving Chandelure makes it all worth it.
