I disagree completely.
Zelda games would not be Zelda games if they were set into a futuristic setting.
Link would have to go into a museum to get into the forest temple because that's where it would be :D

SuperStarLink

It was deleted. What was it about?

Putting Zelda games into the future needs context.  You can't just go straight into the stereotypical scifi genre.  It needs to be distinctly the future of the Zelda world.

That said, we're already creeping there with games like TWW and PH.  Think about it, in PH you're sailing along on a steamboat that has customizable parts that are very mechanical.  That's a bit removed from a medieval setting, something that's actually starting to annoy me.  Zelda's lost it's medieval European charm.  Now it feels like some sort of odd hybrid of industrial elements with Zelda inspired cliches of medieval Europe.  It's really odd . . .

It's funny that you mentioned that. I actually noticed that change in Majora's Mask.  In terms of technology, Termina was far ahead of Hyrule. Good examples would be the pictobox, observatory, the clock tower etc.

I did miss the 'olde' medieval surroundings while playing Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker.
