How do you aim?

How do you aim when playing first-person shooters? Do you use wrist-arm (wrist-horizontal and arm-vertical), wrist-fingers (wrist-horizontal and fingers-vertical), fingers-fingers (fingers-horizontal and fingers-vertical), or arm-arm (arm-horizontal and arm-vertical)? I use wrist-arm, but I heard there are better ways.

I never play FPS games.
For games like Trauma Center that involve precise-ish aim with the Wii Remote, I rest my hands on my lap while sitting up in my chair.
