How do I Re-Write on my DVD-RW?

Alright, so I just got a new computer recently and used a DVD-RW to burn files onto the disc so I could transfer files I wanted from my old computer to my new one. Well, I tried dragging the old files into the trash so I could clear up the space on the DVD, and it said I didn't have permission. What do I do?

Note: If it makes a difference, I have a Mac.

yea there are some Mac experts here so im sure you will get some help. I myself have a mac but i never used the DVD-RW on it so im afraid i cant help you.
