Since when was there only 1 spot left? Sakurai said 2 or 3, not including snake. That would mean there can be up to two more. Also, in a recent Famitsu magazine Sakurai was interviewed and he said they were still programing in characters, so there can be even more.

Cool.

But that could mean filler characters. >_>

Not clones, but just filler.

Who cares? Fill 'er up. If they resort to fillers, they must be out of "good" ideas and just want more characters in the games. Which I see as more of an Assist Trophy thing, but meh.
