it is a particularly easy way to end any story...I mean, here's two options:

• The goverment then rocketed off into outer space.  They then started planning offensive tactics on the homeworld en route...[insert 100 pages here]...After the giant battle, the alien homeworld was destroyed.
• GOD

Option 2 is much easier to write.
