Need some OoT help!

OK, so I got the game for the VC, and right at the beginning of the game, they put you with a task that is that you need to find the Great Deku Tree. Now, someone told me that it's to the right of your house when you exit it, but I went both right and left and still couldn't find the tree. Now, I ask you fellow NSiders this simple question:

Where is the Great Deku Tree in Ocarina of Time?

You have to get a sword and shield first.
Meaning, there is this little crawl space you have to go through, it's at the top of that little hill in the village you start out in, there are a bunch of fences there. Hopefully, you can figure out what I'm talking about.

Inside, there is a rolling stone thing and you have to go through the maze to get the sword.

Then, you just buy the shield and you can pass.
