I heard Sakurai isn't the sequel type. That's why he left HAL lab along with some other reasons. He just wasn't happy working there. I'm not sure if he owns Kirby's rights. He trusts HAL lab enough to continue the Kirby franchise. I read this on Wikipedia. Just search Sakurai. It also says he lives in an apartment near the office where Brawl was developed and he has a lot of cats.

The purpose of Mario 64 DS & All Stars was for people who didn't have the originals to get them. I didn't have a NES, but I got All-Stars and was able to play the masterpieces because of it.
