No the actual original 35 point roster didn't include ridley at all, so  this would deconfirm it even more, it also didn't include any AC characters

From what I understood, Japanese-to-English translations suck :P Anyway...I believe if you want to unlock Ridley what you do is clear a certain 'sky' stage in the SSE...or something like that. The stage or level probably ends with a boss fight between you and Ridley, so it would make sense if you unlock him after that stage.
