It's a play on words of "Le Roi est Mort!", meaning, "The King is dead!"

Roi and Roy sound alike.

So translated it would be, "The Roy is dead!" implying he won't be in Brawl.

Yeah, I get it, but I still think Geno makes a lame character.  He's no where close to being as popular as the names you mentioned.

Popularity from Japan is the reason why Pichu unfortunately got in melee.  Geno isn't even well known.
