I don't get how kids on an internet forum can actually meet and DATE? There's two things...

1. You could just get a date AT YOUR SCHOOL or NEAR WHERE YOU LIVE.

2. WTF WOULD YER PARENTS THINK OF THAT!?

3. If I had a girlfriend, I wouldn't want the ONLY way of talking to be AIM or the phone.

So yeah, its pretty stupid. And pretty weird. O_O And it proves you can't get a girlfriend/boyfriend without usin a nintendo forum.

Uh... yeah, I agree that anybody trying to seriously have an internet relationship is ridiculous and shouldn't be that desperate, especially when they meet in real life. What I find even more ridiculous is websites like eharmony that are dedicated for "perfect matches" to randomly meet...
That's only serious ones though. Doing it jokingly is uh... fun >.>

I don't see the huge problem.  If that's what people want to do, I don't see why you should interfere.  They likely have their own reasons.  Contrary to the popular moron belief, not everyone is interested in the pathetic school "relationships" you mentioned.

Someone I know is involved in an online relationship, and I support it completely.  So do his parents.  Have you ever considered that those two people get along better than if one just "gets a date at their school"?  Shows how much the whole thing means to you.

You act as though these people go to forums looking for a boyfriend/girlfriend.  Sure, that does happen, but I don't support that at all.  I'll back you up on just how horribly stupid it is.  The fact of the matter is that it isn't always the case.  Sometimes people just have friends they feel like that about.  If that's the situation, I see no problem with it whatsoever.

Also, Akemi is a moron who has no hope of ever getting anyone, anyway.  I still support that one, because I guess pairing up two idiots is better than nothing, but that's beside the point.  For the most part, she doesn't apply to what I just said.

You would know, of course.

meh, I've heard them work, and it seems as though Internet forums are kinda like clubs filled with ppl that are like you.  If you're willing to meet in real life (olol ignorance of pedos), it might work out.  Or you might get into a pretty bad situation.  But that's rare.

The only person I hung out with for a bit that I met on the Interwebz before rl was BlazikenPrince but that was only one day and he's on the other side of the country now.

Relationships as in "love" stuff can be bad, yes. But meeting a good friend you know on the internet is fine. ^_^

I don't see anything wrong with it. Cybering is what is disturbing.

You guys won't believe me, but I actually have a crazy story about this:

My sister, who is in her late twenties, plays World of Warcraft. She met a guy in her guild from Croatia, and eventually they started an internet relationship. He then actually flew over here to see her, and was a really nice guy (I met him). They went back and forth seeing each other for about a year and a half, and then last week my sister packed up and moved to Croatia to get married.

Thats actually pretty believable. I've read tons of stories about people meeting over WoW. Hell, even a couple of my friends have met other people over WoW.

Wow.  Just wow.

Real life >>>>>>>>> Internet.

Internet dating over long distances doesn't work. But those actual systems where you date someone living nearby, arranging a real date before hand, those might work.
