That URL is not worth $2K.  Let EJ have it and not make money off it, rather than suckering us out of twice the amount he paid for it.  You already have the .org extension.  Just get that in place and then continue efforts to reclaim the old domain.

Doubting that.  EJ just wants to make a nice $1K profit off you.  You're being set up to be ripped off, again.  And yes it will cost money if we want the name back...but not that much.  It's not even worth it at that point.
