Halo should run fine at that. And yes, like I said before HPs are nice.

If you're planning on using it for gaming, the 8600 series is underpowered, and I don't like that it caps at 2~ GB. It could play Orange Box and Oblivion, games along those lines. Just don't expect it to play Crysis on all high, 4x AA, 60+ FPS.

I'm biased, I don't like laptops, so feel free to ignore whatever I say.

How would games like Halo run on it?

Thanks. We're (the parents and I) are still debating whether or not to get this laptop, but this will most likely be the one I'm getting.

It's either this or a standard MacBook Pro.

I would prefer to build my own Desktop for much better and cheaper:

Case and power supply
Intel Core 2 Duo
Motherboard
CPU Cooler
2 of these RAM sticks (1 GB each, 2 GB together)
Graphics Card
HD
Disc Drive
Keyboard and Mouse
Windows XP
Monitor

All that comes out to about $950.

You'll probably want to upgrade some things there though.

Chances are some of that stuff isn't compatible also. My mistake if so.

Am I the only one that doesnt want a Gaming laptop here? I'd cheap out on a lower graphics card for a bigger hard drive personally, but meh.

We've already narrowed it down to those two choices, and we're not going with a custom PC. We're still debating; we'll probably decide sometime early tomorrow. I should have either one by tomorrow night! =D
