So I'm back and I was thinking which would be better to buy Zune or iPod?

You're going to get at least 3 Zune votes, mines being one.

Macawmoses

We let you back?

Glad to have ya :)

Zune.

Matt

Never used a Zune, though I will buy one eventually, till I do... I will have to go with the iPod.

THEEVILSPERKY

iPod is slimmer, lots of support for it, many variations of it in terms of color, type of, and size.

Zune is the popular contender with a built-in radio and also comes in different variations through color, size, and etc., much like the iPod.

It's personal preference, obviously. I don't really see one being really better or all that much more attractive than the other.

I have a PSP with 4 gig memory stick and that's good enough for me right now.  I wouldn't go out and buy either due to that.

I love being able to carry around a PlayStation combined with a media player in my pocket.  Photos, music, movies, games, etc.  But that's just me.

I'm pretty undecided... I like the iPod Touch because I love touch screens.. I want a computer with one, I've owned a few DS's, and both my digital camera and cell phone have large screens with touch capabilities... though the smaller size and larger price tag is a little daunting.

Well... balance it out.. price vs color vs size, etc... what's your preference?  I like the Zune for it's simple interface (software and hardware-wise.. I hate the wheel) and for the fact it's not another iPod but, at the same time, it doesn't really do anything new (radio isn't "new").  I mean, it's just an mp3/media player, it's not supposed to be all that and a bag of chips, you know, but it doesn't wow me... and neither does the iPod.

I like the slimness the iPod offers but I can't stand iTunes.. =/

I just kinda rambled and probably didn't help... oh well...

You can see why I don't have either...

I just want a bigger memory stick for my PSP...

*ramble ramble ramble*

It'd help to know what experience you have with either, why you want to buy such a device, etc.

Then we can help sway you based on your interests perhaps.

Everyone's just gonna vote for their favorite, but will the one with the most votes be your favorite too..?  Maybe you won't be happy with what the majority of people are happy with.  Choose wisely!

Nah, that was pretty good.

Here's an idea.

Go waste money on those 1TB CDs and a CD player.

Zune, here's why.

It's the same price as the 80GB iPod classic, but with a larger screen. The Zune software doesn't try to shove Safari and Quicktime down your throat every time it needs an update. The actual Zune comes in different colors, depending on the model, and it comes with preloaded content. It has a built-in radio, which is good if you know what radio stations you like. In addition, it takes .wmv instead of just .mp4, which means if most of your videos are in .wmv, you don't need to worry about converting them.

On the downside, there's a few small issues I have with it. The actual screen feels very...breakable, you're going to want a case. The Zune headphones are good, great quality for being free, but if Darklink is any indication, don't wear them around little kids. When adjusting the volume during a song, there's a small clicking noise. Video kills the battery life, especially on medium or high brightness, which is expected.

Finally, if you're on a Mac, of course you're going to get an iPod, why consider a Zune?

The 80 Gigs still only come in black, no?

Personally, maybe if the larger Zune came in different colours and Microsoft didn't use their 'Microsoft points' for song purchases, I'd like it more...

I really like my Red Zune, but I agree, I wish there were a few more colors to choose from.

I don't even use the Marketplace, I just download music or buy CDs.

I always preferred the iPod over the Zune. Unlike most of you, iTunes works perfectly for me. All you have to do is learn how to use it well, and boom, nothing bad should* happen.

*I said SHOULD.

Please explain how you use something as simple as iTunes well.

I've had different problems with it; it randomly clearing most of my music library, starting up slowly, giving me iPod errors when there's nothing wrong with it, and it telling me to update Safari and Quicktime whenever I start it up.

I've had my Ipod since Christmas, and I haven't had any of those problems.  When it wants to update, it tries to give you Safari/Quicktime, but you just uncheck the boxes and move on with your life (takes about 1 second).

it never clears my music library, and although my Ipod does sometimes get errors, that's easily fixed by resetting it.  It's good to go within 20ish seconds.

It does load slowly, but I'd suspect that has to do with how many songs you have.

I have an 8gig nano.
