We owned in world war 1.

yes.  that we did.

if the US were to attack Canada, they would quite obviously lose in the end.  however, if Canada were to attack the US, I have no idea how the world's diplomats would sort that one out, lol.

Also, you weren't 100% independent until 1982.

I'm honestly surprised that didn't happen a lot earlier.

US would actually lose. They are the most hated nation in the world, and with that, Canada would have so many allies it isn't funny. From Britain, to Afghanistan, we'd bomb your asses to hell. Face it, the Japanese are vengeful.

this.

and the war of 1812, b****es.  we already won once, we can DO IT AGAIN.

(yes, i know it was the british)

Um, what? How did you 'win'?
We accomplished everything we intended to, you accomplished nothing.  You guys stopped pirating our ships and gave us the land we were supposed to have but you had kept anyways.  You burned down the white house? We burned down the parliament, twice.
So no, you didn't win.

yeah, we did.  we fended off the american scum that were only interested in our land.  just because we didn't gain anything in the end (neither did you) doesn't mean that we didn't win. :\

also, we held Detroit, and we should've kept it and given you Toronto so that I could go to Red Wings games without crossing the border.
No.

Okay, I'll explain it to you.  At the end of the revolutionary war, we signed a treaty with britain, saying that we got a certain portion of the land they held (the 13 colonies and west of them, including the area south of the great lakes), and all British forts and settlements would leave them.  However, the British did not leave the area south of the great lakes, thus breaking their side of the treaty.  In addition to that, British privateers (federally funded pirates) were pillaging american merchant ships.  We, of course, wanted our land and wanted safety for our merchants.  A war formed.

At the end of the war, the British finally left the land they said they would, and stopped pirating our ships.  That is what we wanted, and we got it.  I don't think that when your enemies get everything they want from a war, it means you have won.

yeah, but at the same time, we could still not be "100% independent" and absolutely nothing would be different than it is now.  All that was was a signed piece of paper.  the big change happened at WWI when Canada was recognized as a nation.

Canadian soldiers were known as "Stormtroopers" in WW1.

Hell, I bet Lucas named the stormtroopers after us. :)

lol, that is totally not the version that we were taught in school.  we were taught that the US invaded for no real reason, took the british land, then tried to march upward and claim the rest of Canada.

intercourse  the canadian school system :\

I can't argue with that.  I've lived in Canada for 6 years and it bugs me how they teach it as the "War of American Aggression"
Don't get me wrong, I love you guys, just not your school system

It really isn't. We are taught that it wasn't Canada, we were also taught that it was a draw, both sides made gains. I love history, I don't want to argue this, but you must have been sleeping.

manitoba teaches things differently than Ontario, mate.  we were taught that it was a victory, just like we're taught that Louis Riel is a hero, not a villain.

Dude, how it would end up is purely circumstantial.  Who attacks first?  That determines who gets support.  Second of all, who has who for allies.  For one, Israel would side with us no matter what, because we supply them with most of their weaponry.  However, Canada does have a lot of harsh terrian up north that their northern soldiers would be VERY accustomed too (if I remember correctly) and might do numbers on our soldiers up north.  Quite frankly, I could type up far more on what could change the outcome.  It might take me a full sized post.  Or more.

War can be a very complex thing.  Particularly tactics.
meh

If it was already said that we were taught different ways, no matter which story is correct, now your forcing something that seems fundamentally false... D:
