Sword or gun?

They're cleaner/ more efficient , just as cool imo, and shooting stuff is more fun than cutting stuff in most cases.

Guns don't take expertise.  You don't prove anything by shooting besides your impatience. 

A swordfight, on the other hand, is a test of skill, and if you succeed at your mortal endeavor, it's because of your awesomeness, not because you can just pull a trigger and aim something in the right direction.

I also believe that just severely injuring someone is enough punishment...gunshots are much more fatal, which is no fun.  What are you proving if you can't rub it in the other person's face later?
