Mmm.. that still sounds pretty awful.

Have fun in CA but sorry for your loss.  Maybe if your brother didn't drink so much and you two spent more time together, maybe you'd feel differently if he died all of a sudden.  You lost a brother.. AND lost out on experiences and good times you could've had with him.  He made some dumb decisions and you two both lost out.  You should comfort those around you that have lost him too.

I hate my brother's guts but there's no way I won't cry if anything ever happens...

I'll still think he's an idiot and an ass.. but it'll hurt more because his relationship with me never really turned into anything much.. it's almost always been hell.. and it'll probably stay that way..

One of us will die before the other and who knows if he'll care but I know I will.. and frankly, it'll really, really, really suck.. and that's a huge understatement.

It's really hard to believe you aren't upset or anything.  I mean, your parents just lost one of their children.. your one parent's sister broke the news to them.. she lost her sibling's child... I mean, geez, it's tragic!  Especially considering the circumstances.

Your coldness is reinforcing my feelings about my brother not caring one way or the other about me.  He may treat me and my mom like lower than poop but darn.. still.. death is terrible..
