That was mainly why it failed, a poor launch.

Oh, and did I mention that Sega of Japan gave the order to fire the President of Sega of America in September 1999? They had no idea when the Dreamcast would launch in America, and they just happened to choose the worst possible month.

The lack of communication could be blamed for Sega's demise, similar problems happened many times over the previous decade.
