As you may or may not already know, one of the members of NeoGAF, a gaming forum that is quite well known, showed a picture of a North American unit, a Matte Black one to be precise as can be seen in the 2 pictures below.

We know they are in production, we know the press is getting the final unit, complete with box and all. When will it release? GDC starts late March, but April is what some prior rumors were pointing to. I for one cannot wait to own my own DSi so naturally I want it to come out in March, but I am not quite sure. Still, i am gonna have to say late March, even though I know I am probably wrong.

If you want to read the GAF thread, go to http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352768. When do you think it will come out? How much do you think it will be? How much are you willing to pay? Finally, do you want one?

As for price, anything over 180 USD, and they are dead to me...

It looks legit to me, so I'd say it is likely.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it launch next to Platinum, to be quite honest. It's just good marketing for both.

As for value, I'll peg it at $175 or so....seems reasonable. My good friend Wolf Link is in possession of one, and his testimony has actually piqued my interest in it. And that amazes me, as it really does not impress me. Still. I'll likely shell out the cash - especially if it means enhanced Pokemon or Mario games.

I have a feeling this isn't NS2 Huelen from various hints, and I'm guessing this is one of the other Huelens.

Anyways, I see the DS as a Marketing Gimmick. A Good one at that, partially due to the fact they've got some pretty worthwhile applications added onto this bit of cyber-candy. It's easy to say I'll likely get one eventually, when and where may be a better question however  :D Anyways, I think of the DSi as a good redesign of the timeless and amazing handheld. A worthwhile successor to the DS name regardless or not if it is in fact a new handheld or rather a redesign.

I'm looking forward to it relatively well.  ~ SCB = SuperCoolBros

Yeah, I am HUELEN10 the fourth, aka the one who likes a good hearty discussion of gaming and loves NeoGAF and the one who formally left NS2 like a year a go due to stupidity of NS2 and having a slightly-soiled name due to prior deeds from the others who once shared this name. Nice to see ya!

it is interesting that you brought up the point of the gimmicks. If you look at the box, you will see some media icons quite similar to those found in the packaging of PSP systems. Once Nintendo was not into media at all, but to me it seems that if they are gonna push it, they better market it as a media system, alongside the DS Lite. This strategy could work for a while, at least until they phase out the DS Lite in the North American region. Quite strange for me to see Ninty do this, what with pushing media even in the boxart of the system, but things change!

Quite honestly, I don't see it as strange at all. I've been highlighting gaming companies collapses over the past few months, and with their record hit (Nintendo), they need to make strategic revisions. Unfortunately for gamers, that means a slight deviation from our demands.

if it's $180 I'll get it :)

Mario and Luigi RPG 3 as a side launch?

February 18, 2009 - After months of waiting, Nintendo of America finally revealed the details we've been anticipating. On April 5th, the Nintendo DSi system will be released in North America for $169.99. The North American version will be available in two colors: black and blue.

The system has been available in black since the Japanese launch in October 2008; the blue system will be unique to the US launch.

I really don't see the appeal of the gba slot. The only thing I find the GBA slot worth is the pokemon/Guitar hero stuff.

It's for people who want to play GBA games but don't have a GBA.
