I think the issue in this thread is that I don't give a flying intercourse . Keep this discussion directly on the Black Knight (as some of us are actually waiting to play it) and if you really must discuss Shadow, make a topic on it so those that want organization can....have it.

Nayrman

It kinda just got on that topic by accident. Ugh, there are a couple games I need to buy, as well as record a crap load of footage, and three tests starting next week. Too darn busy.

Oh, and Silver and Jet are also playable for some BIZARRE reason (they have no plot in the story, so it really isn't spoilers). I just wanna know why Jet of all characters X_X;; At least Big would be hilarious...

Macawmoses

Also, Nintendo Power gave an 8/10, while Famitsu's score balances out to 6.5 out of 10 (two 7's nd two 6's).

Anyways, I'm kind of happy Jet is involved. Sure, he's a spinoff character, but it's nice getting some of the auxillary characters involved. Why not?

Shadow is just such a lame, cheesy character regardless. The misunderstood, bad-ass antagonist that the protagonists initially fight but later team up with to defeat a common enemy. It's so played out. Is has been done so many times that it's just yawn inducing.

Worst thing is; they didn't even pull it off well.

Bull.

Shadow [and Rouge] were amazing in their first Sonic game, which coincidentally is almost unanimously considered the best 3D Sonic, if not the best Sonic period.  It was the later, all-around sucky games like Heroes and ShTH that ruined them.  Not to mention the fact that when he was introduced about 10 years ago, video game stories hadn't gotten deep enough for anything to be "played out".

Saying it was the best 3D sonic doesn't mean much. That's like saying, "of all of these s*** sandwiches, this one tastes the best." I think the 3D sonic games are awful. Some cool ideas, but they don't capture my interest.

Also, I wasn't talking about video games exclusively when I said he was a cliche character. He was basically Vegeta as a hedgehog.

Your opinion isn't the right opinion. Neither is mine.
We have our own opinions for a reason.
I like 3-D Sonic games (Most of them) and you don't.
And that's alright.

Shadow was good in SA2, then he got emo, then he got a little better in 06. Having the only good story from that game. (Game still sucks balls)

Vegeta is hot headed, pridefull, and doesn't like to help people.

Shadow isn't really hotheaded, or really pridefull.

you catch my drift?
I see your point, and for the most part I agree.
Although the term "Vegeta character" tends to mean a formerly evil counterpart to the main hero and eventually they become friends/rivals and usually being the second strongest character in the main canon only to the main hero of  of the story. Vegeta, Shadow, Sasuke (for a brief period), Hiei, Renji, etc. are all examples of the "Vegeta" character. Just a quick explination.

Shadow was great in SA2, it's the reason we all wanted him back! I contribute the Shadow story in 06 being good to Mephiles and DAN GREEN!

DAN GREEN FTW.

As long as he doesn't talk, I suppose it's okay.
I'd have preferred Tails being full on playable though
Famitsu is probably the only review source I actually trust anymore. For the most part they're pretty balanced. Although I will forever question their Nintendogs perfect 10 X_X;;

Pachuri

They should have made the scout a playable character

I agree. Better than creating them and then leaving them to rot, never to be used. At all.

I bought it. Not bad so far, but I can't make a concrete opinion yet. I'm enjoying it more than I did SotSR when I first got it, at least.

But Sonic=DBZ. I thought that was obvious. All of the heroes going out saving the world and collecting 7 objects that take a certain shape. Also, there are a billion characters. And super forms. And the characters:

Sonic= Goku
Shadow/Knuckles= Vegeta
Tails= Krillin
Chaos= Cell
Amy= Chi Chi
Super Sonic/Shadow/every other character=Super Saiyan every other freaking character
Rouge= Bulma
Robotnik= Typical DBZ villain

All they need is a intercourse ing Gohan.

Um... there's already a game worse than '06.
The Genesis version of Spinball is definitely not the worst 2D Sonic game all all. Especially if you consider the Game Gear.

As for the characters, I think this:
The core characters should be in pretty much all games, like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow
They don't need to be pumping out a stream of new characters with every game
If they do want extra non-core characters, they're better off using the ones they already abandoned. Though Heroes sucks as a game, it's an example of doing this patially by including Team Chaotix (though it turned in the opposite way too, replacing an already-good-robot Gamma with Omega).
If you want to add the mere option of playing as additional characters with minor tweaks to their controls, then by all means do it.
Don't screw up your priorities on which characters to make playable (as an extreme example, don't make Fang the Sniper one of the main selectable playable characters and leave Tails completely out of playability)

Oh, and can somebody actually mention what these downsides exactly are for Black Knight that are being complained about? This is even worse than I've seen for whining about 2006, where the only complaints I've seen seriously mentioned are poor loading times and bad story. From all I know, this game is at least many times better than Secret Rings at its bare minimum, and at that not a very bad game at all.

Yeah. We have them, why not make use of them? Jet was a decent character, and in terms of selection, he makes a great way to round out the roster. This way characters aren't needed for every new installment.

Also, what would you say the pros and cons of Black Knight are thus far?

Tupin

I can't really say since no rental store around here has it and there's no way I'm going to spend $50 on a Sonic game. I've heard that there aren't even any loop-de-loops and combat is a waggle-fest.

Wii games that involve the remote are always waggle fest...not even Nintendo can figure this darn thing out for more than one game a year...
I just heard it has about a half second lag which gets annoying since things can just appear out of nowhere.

It doesn't lag for me...

Beat it. Shortest Sonic game I've played in recent memory. And I sucked at certain points. Like at the boss battles.

Fun, though. And plot is actually somewhat decent.

also, there's 3 spaces left in Battle Mode. No idea who they could be, aside from the two characters talked about earlier.

edit: also, yes, I did continue after the "first" credits.
