So no surprise but my X-box has decided to stop working. I called it in and they said that the video chip is broken and needs replacing.
Have you ever heard of this? I know I've only heard of the Red Ring of Death but this only has a red light on the bottom right of the ring.

Oh Vesperia, never change... never change

I know that this post is fairly old, and you probably already found out the solution, but since no one said anything, I'll explain it nonetheless.

When the bottom right sector of the ring of life flashes red, this usually means that and E-- error has occured. A black screen comes up saying to contact support in many languages, followed by the letter E and a number. Usually, the numbers are E67, E69, and E74.

The appearance of the E74 error has spiked recently, and Microsoft is getting pretty startled by it. They just extended the normal 1 year warrenty to 3 years of service, if one such happens to get an E74 error.

Microsoft stated it's usally cause by a general hardware failure, much like the RRoD. However, that's not always the case. Here are the three main known reasons why the E series error occurs.

1: The AV cables may cause this error for unknown reasons (this is a very rare case, however)

2: Something in the xbox 360 became loose.

3: The GPU has been burnt.

Sometimes, it is possible to tell when an E74 error might appear. If the 360's graphics started getting all distorted and "pixely" then there is a good chance you're about to receive this error code.

I know this for a fact, because this happened to me a week or two ago... Still waiting to get my 360 back actually...

Good luck on fixing your 360, you may need it.

The sole cause for the 3 red lights is the motherboard clamps that come loose. I fixed 6 3 red lighting consoles from a local video game store by removing the loose clamps and bolting down the heatsinks. They all worked 100%

The clamps come loose and in turn the heatsinks become loose and the system auto-fails by throwing up the 3 red lights. Most of the times the hardware is 100% fine, the console just ceases to function so the chips do not fry by not having the heatsinks touching them.

One of the consoles they gave me to fix actually had fried the GPU because the heatsinks were not touching the chip.
