Rotom is "motor" backwards.  :O I'm sure it had something to do with the fact that it basically becomes a motor for appliances when it enters them.

Discuss other Pokémon with names created like this or in a similar manner.

Ekans
Arbok

those are the only two I can think of.
Anyway, I don't think that's why rotom is called that...

Persian, Seel, and Dewgong and real animals, don't know if those count

JrDude

1. I didn't know this was news, I noticed this soon after I caught it in Pearl.
2. It precisely is the reason Nayr, if you do the event for the new Rotom forms, it says in a book how he got his name (I called him Rotom since it is motor spelled  backwards [or something along those lines])

Though I don't think Persian is a Persian (not sure, nor do I remember what one looks like), and the other 2 are real animals, but spelled wrong.

Deoxys - The DNA pokemon
Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA

I realized why Deoxys' arms are always swirling in a double helix thanks to biology 1.

So yeah...

One thing I noticed about the anime is that all the professors are named after wood. So is ash.
Yes,I know this is very very very old.

jnfs2014

Rowan? Never heard of that. Oh, and Ivy isn't a wood.

GreatGonzales106

Yes, and Kanto and Johto towns are named after colors and plants, respectively.

I feel like there are more backwards words than we have here, I just can't think of any.

GreatGonzales106

I was searching around the secret room with the appliances Rotom can go into, and I realized there is a second book on the far right side of the room. If you read it long enough, it says, "Motor and ROTOM...surely the link is obvious?"

that's misspelled. the pokemons name is spearow. and that makes no sense. what does "worraps" or "woraeps" mean? none of the others make any sense, either. are they japanese?

Rowans are definitely trees.
Derived from ancient Norse, Rogn.

Actually, every single Pokémon has its own japanese name...but japanese like "Purin (Jigglypuff)" and so does everyone else except for Pikachu, I think.

Zero

This is stupid

No pokemon is a "real animal". All pokemon are based off of various animals, objects, mythical creatures, or are just plain intercourse tarded(hence the japanese origin of pokemon).

My favorites of the pokemon origins are Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza; Which are based off of the biblical creatures Behemoth, Leviathan, and Ziz respectively.
