It would be basically Usenet.
Usenet?

lolwut
Usenet was (and still is) one of the oldest public Internet communities evar.  It was founded in 1980 and used not the World Wide Web, but instead a newsreader program.  It was a newsgroup community, in other words, kinda like /. and Digg to some degree.  They practiced a theory known as "netiquette" in which you speak scholarly and don't make stupid posts.

Know your Internet history, olol

I just said it's a newsgroup.  Totally different...although you can access it through Google Groups.

The World Wide Web is only one facet of the Internet.  They're not the same thing.

Oh, that's not all.  There's also something called FidoNet that operates entirely separately from the Internet we know today.

So it's like an Outernet?

Or the Intranet?

Cardinal

I'd enjoy it.

It'd be quite a bit better than today's negative-IQ internet population.

More like the utopianet.

Really, the entire concept is that everyone does an equal part in running this network.  I'd like to try it myself but the website is so freaking confuzzling that I don't know where to begin :P
