*likes to note that Travis with NMH2:DS will have more Nintendo console games than Snake since the SNES' debut*

As far as the reports from Sakurai regarding third parties, it depends more on the third party's willingness to get the character in rather than Nintendo's personal preference. Otherwise Snake wouldn't have had a chance.

Not saying you're wrong Mac. If NMH3 (should there be one) gets on the 360/PS3 and not Wii before eventual Smash 4, it could put a damper on things. But hey, Suda commands it.

Macawmoses

Oh no, I understand that. But at the same time, I don't think Nintendo is going to let a character in that they feel has betrayed them. Yes, Suda's support certainly helps - but I am sure they look into relationship with other companies. Snake, for instance, may have had hardly any Ninty releases. But, of course, look at other Konami support, and you'll see large series like Yugioh with a ton of Nintendo support. I still believe that is why we never saw a Capcom rep, because of RE4. So, they will assuredly look into sales of NMH + NMH2, but I think they will also look to the future and see if they believe Suda is someone that will work with them again (Vitality support helps), or if he is only there to make his character more mainstream and ditch them.

Nayrman

The "Capcom 5" betrayal during the Cube era can easily be attributed to PS2's completely dominant sales and Nintendo not exactly being that friendly to third parties at the time.
I think Snake's appearance is moreso because Kojima and Sakurai are pals, and Nintendo would rather please Sakurai than be anal about one character.

Even if Suda were to jump to the 360/PS3, this would hardly be Square's betrayal during the N64 era (another relationship nearly ruined more so by Nintendo's stubbornness and Sony's technical superiority than anything truly game wise).

I think sales of NMH2 will determine a lot as to the likelyhood of Suda doing much of anything in terms of teaming up with Nintendo for Smash or anything of the like.

How was putting NMH on the Wii an attempt to make it more mainstream? It's blatantly marketed toward the minority market on the system. Suda said it's on the Wii because of the more interesting control scheme. The only reason he's grown bored with the Wii because right after E3 he said the system's reached it's limit (for him anyway) and that Natal and Sony look much more interesting at the moment. But we all know how fickle these gaming guys can be between what can/should/they tell will be done and what actually will. *glares at Inafune for his insistance on RPG's for Megaman**

Macawmoses

As a note, I meant mainstream by appearing in SSB. Not on Wii. Because face it, Smash has helped a few series out.

my misunderstanding then.
Smash is the only reason America has Fire Emblem, so I'll agree there.
I don't think wanting Travis in Smash has anything to do with trying to get him into the mainstream (although Suda has really wanted to make Travis a star). But I can see where you're coming from there.

He's the guy from Dig Dug, but he has moves based off of several old (And new) Namco games, such as Dig Dug, Pole Position, Pac-man, and Soul Caliber.

Just like Mr. Game and Watch has moves based off of HIS different games, like Fire, Chef and Octopus.
The difference between that is Mr. Game & Watch is actually real, there is a game based off him, and his moves are based on Mr. Game & Watch's games, he's not some character with many other people's moves, that would be retarded. Imagine Mario, since his games contain Bowser and Donkey Kong and whatnot, Mario should be able to breath fire and throw barrels (based on your logic), and since he's Nintendo, why not add Link's bow and arrow, and Pikachu's Thunderbolt.

No, you just don't think enough. When you mentioned MG&W's thing, it came to me immediately, not much thinking at all. After reading your Dig Dug thingy, the Mario thing also came to me almost instantly.

*Semi-off-topic* Can I ask, JR, who was the character YOU desperatly wanted in Brawl?

Whether I wanted anyone in or not wouldn't really prove anything, due to the fact that all the characters I wanted at all are real.

But the Dig Dug man is real too. He just doesn't have an absolute name.

I guess I have to add that the characters I want in wouldn't have someone else's attacks, though I also know Dig Dug won't make it in, no matter how stupid someone is, they will never make a character have moves of someone else scratch that, they did do that, what I mean is, they will never make a character have moves of a character of a different game (like Mario and Link). They will make up moves for them, but they won't do what you want them to do.

Most likely not, but, like every other wanted character for smash, and I mean EVERY other, it's always something to wish for.

To say it will never happen is pretty darn ignorant of you to say.

If Mr. Namco were as popular to be in as Sonic was, I'm pretty sure he could get in.

Too bad I'm the only one to think something like this up with little resources to distribute my idea.
