For 500 dallars or less. I want to be able to run fallout 3. It doesn't need peripherals. I would prefer XP as an OS.

Tsumaru

You can't get a gaming PC for 500 or less.

It just can't be done.

You could probably build a rig to run fallout 3 for under 500$, but probably at low to medium settings.

500$ might be enough to cover a good 22' widescreen monitor.

Ouch, under $500 is going to be hard...

I built mine for 300 dollars and can play fallout 3 on medium. All I need is a better video card. It can be done  >:(
I'm using an old case and an old crt monitor though :3

Can someone give me a good build that would cost below $500? I'd take running it on the lowest possible settings.

Yesterday, sort of. I was on the verge of crying. Why? I got into an argument with a couple other people from #nsider and it got me really upset. I didn't really cry much though

Can we ban Hoss, please?

Not too confident in finding parts that work well with each other, but I'll give it a try, since I'm pulling an all nighter I could use something to do to pass the time...

......if you're building a gaming machine, most of your money will end up going towards a graphics card unless you get a semi-extreme processor; I'd suggest starting a build arond one.

??? if you are paying 500 bucks for a good 22 inch monitor then you are being ripped off

just get poop off newegg. I'm guessing you already have a monitor, keyboard, etc, so all you need are the case components. Fallout 3 is gpu intensive, not very cpu intensive, so you can skimp out on the cpu (maybe a low end amd dual core). Get one of the newer ATI graphics cards and you should be set.

Ripped off? A good one will run you 299-350$ Plus taxes and or warranty bumps it up another hundred or so.

My parents got mine for just over 200. Works great.

Also, I might be able to make something work for 500 (I'm REALLY going to have to skimp, and no monitor included), but it would go obsolete very, very quickly. If you can manage another 100, things will improve dramatically.

EDIT: $525 is the best I can do. Wait and save up. Also, it's Vista. XP is going to cost more.

I don't care if it goes obsolete. I just want to be able to play Fallout 3 on the lowest settings. If thats too much, Oblivion on the lowest settings. If that costs too much, I would want to play TF2 with very little lag that isn't connection based.
