It's been a while. So, today we look at our fifth Pok?mon of the Day...Marowak.

Marowak
Ground
LightningRod/Rock Head
NU

The stats on our friend up there.

First of all, Marowak is the ONLY Pok?mon to ever die in game. It's the only non-ghost Ghost we've seen. And, it has its own hold item, the Thick Club, on top of Marowak-centric moves like Bonemerang.

This combined makes Marowak one badass Pok?mon...but not tier wise. Most see it as an NU...because it is. However, I make a point of using it. Why? It's insane base attack, it's hold item that further boosts it...and let's not forget natures that boost attack at its disposal. It is a great Physical Sweeper in that regard. However, it's low speed certainly dampers that.

Of course, Trick Room and Sandstorm teams find a nice niche with Marow on their side (just ask Matt), and his repetoire of moves are welcome. Rock Head + Double Ege = win. Then we have punches. EQ. Stone Edge. A walking nightmare if he gets speed.

So...thoughts on Marow?

JrDude

He's the only non-ghost Ghost that we've SEEN, it is confirmed that other Pok?mon died as well by the graves in the many games and the people saying that they died. So it's not the only one to die.

But yes, Marowak is an awesome Pok?mon, I've considered using one on my team before. But I just now thought of something... If a female Marowak breeds and creates a Cubone, shouldn't the Cubone not wear a skull since the mom's alive?

I love Marowak.

A Decently strong Double Hit attack is super awesome. Plus, as you said, a boost item goes well with that too, makes it a devastating attack. Especially to Articuno and Moltres. (Though those aren't used alot.)

Operative words were "in game".

Marowak is pretty badass if you set him up right(Mack :|). Trick Room is the best choice with Marowak, I've seen people Baton Pass in Marowak after using Agility/Rock Polish/Ninjask(Speed Boost), usually ending up in complete failure and making it easy counter and wipe Marowak out even with its decent Def and SpDef base. Marowak has quite a large movepool but the most obvious choices are EQ, Stone Edge, Double Edge, Fire/Thunder Punch. If you set him up, oh man, oh man, you can deal some heavy damage to your opponents team.

Doesn't make sense? Don't expect it to, Mack is bugging me about making a post.

TR works great with him - especially with that base 45 speed. Outslows most everyone. Top if off with a Brave nature, and BAM. You've got yourself a party.

Marowak is pretty cool. it can be good. it's just a little slow.  it's got decent attack and special defense and defense. I think that it's best to give it a jolly nature to up its speed at the cost of the  special attack, since he doesn't need special attack because he's a physical attacker. An adamant nature would also probably work well to up the attack and down the special attack.

My prefered moveset would have to be earthquake, thrash, stone edge, and brick break. it could also hold a quick claw for its speed.

but there's better ground types out there so i wouldn't bother using it.

Fire Punch is almost necessary.

Weaknesses: Water, Grass, Ice.

Fire Punch: Grass, Bug, Ice.

Thrash isn't really needed. EQ is, however. Brick Break? Unnecessary. Thrash? Maybe, but not really.

My Moveset:

Earthquake
Stone Edge
Fire Punch
Double-Edge

EQ for STAB and Poison, Steel, Rock, Fire, and Electric

Stone Edge for Ice and Flying.

Fire Punch for Grass and Ice.

Double Edge for 120 Base power and no setback.

Item? Thick Club or whatever it's called.

Nature: Jolly for Speed, Adamant for Attack.

I find Jolly Marowaks to be pointless, I mean it is nearly outdone by most on speed. Only chance you'd have is if you max out Ninjask's speed boost or find someone who stupidly lets you set up enough agilities, even then Marowak would have to take a hit unless you get a Sub off before hand, all in all natures beneficial in speed don't go well with Marowak in my opinion.

jnfs2014

I had a blond moment there. Forgot about its Speed and TR capibilities worsened.

Macawmoses

Yeah, killing its speed is a far better option. It's already trash.

Pascal

Wak sucks in singles :V
3 turns of attacking before TR runs out.
In doubles, it is much better.
Rock Slide flinch + a partner picking them off will usually make the best of 3 turns.

Macawmoses

I set up a revenge kill, usually. For whatever reason, two TR'rs is particularly nasty. Sacrifice one, let loose with Marow, then unleash one as a preserver.

RX-78-2

I've always thought that Marowak is a cool Pok?mon. When I was completing my FireRed Pok?dex I leveled up all my first stage Pok?mon including Cubone, who was much fun to train. I agree with the Trick Room strategies. That's really what I'd use for about any slow, strong Pok?mon. He does have a great moveset, and, looking at my guide, I'd choose something from the list of:

- Ice Beam (no Ice Punch :()
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Fire Punch
- Thunder Punch
- Rock Slide
I dunno hao 2 put imgs heer :(

EQ is essential. Rock Slide is good. As is Fire Punch. BB and IB/TPunch are all arguable.
