So it's basically OoT, ALTTP, and MM in that order?

Also, 4 pages on a seemingly dead Zelda board? Cool.

NO!  OoT, MM, and ALttP in that order!

A Link to the Past is good, but it's extremely similar to OoT to the point where playing one after the other seems... boring.  MM, however, has a whole new experience:  it's creepy, depressing, and all around dark; every NPC has a name, day to day life, personality, and sidequest; and combining these factors makes it the deepest and most involving, emotion-inducing Zelda of all.  Definitely get OoT, then MM, and if by then you decide you love Zelda or want to try a top-down game, then go for ALttP.

Don't forget Wind Waker, it is also an awesome game, it's actually the game I played that got me into Zelda games.

WW is decent, and it's a good introduction to the 3D series for little kids, primarily because the puzzles and combat are both easier. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's awesome, though. It was arguably the first game in the series to make any respectable effort to humanize Link (and Ganondorf), and had decent dungeons while they lasted, but (as has already been said to death), the TS quest prevents the game from being in my top 5.

But idk if I want to get MM, and I'll start with VC games.

Whatever you do, play OoT first, as not only does it have all that great stuff about it, but ALttP, MM, and WW are all direct sequels (only MM actually has the same Link, the others I call "direct" because they specifically mention the events of OoT as prologue).

Well no poop OoT and ALttP are incredibly similar, OoT was pretty much the 3D version of ALttP.

But JNFS2014 is new to Zelda and might not have known it... hence the title and purpose of this thread.

I know about Zelda and the games, and I even know some things about Link and such, but I've never owned a Zelda game.
