Have you gotten this game already? I'm happy to say that the levels get harder overtime, and they all have those nostalgic moments of the previous Super Mario Bros. games.

So, what are your thoughts about the game?

Discuss.

My new favorite Mario game and one of my all time favorites.

Me and my friends had so much fun playing through the main game. We're going back for the Star coins the next time we can get together.

...*Ahem*. Got it yesterday, and I'm playing through it as Yvan, because blue is kickass and Toad gets all the ninnyes. (Reference)

Anyway, I'm specifically playing through the game with my brothers for review purposes, and I'm having a blast so far. The difficulty caught me by surprise, as I was expecting it to be fairly easy, but it's still not as hard as The Lost Levels.

Also, the Ice Flower, in just one day, wormed its way up to my heart and became one of my most beloved power ups in a video game. Dead serious.

...so yeah, I'm digging it.

Macawmoses

It is so amazing. I have been playing alone and through multiplayer, and I love both. They have different reasons for my affection, but darn is it a good game. <3

I'll probably pick it up next week.

While it certainly looks more difficult than Galaxy or NSMB for the DS, still doesn't look anywhere near as tough as, say, Mario 3 or Lost Levels.

Eh, as long as it actually manages to kill me a few times I'll be happy. And finally those darn star coins unlock something useful for once!

Just beat it a few minutes ago, with all of the Star Coins...well, almost all.

It wasn't too difficult, though there were times that drained my lives. Speaking of which, I found it pretty easy to get lives. I wound up with 99 lives pretty early, though that was because I kept saving Toads and stuff. Then I went crazy, because I kept trying to keep it over 90. My mind would not rest.

The execution of the Kooplings was pretty good this time, and the boss fights were very fun fights if you ask me. You could also clearly see personality in all of them, as odd as that may sound. Kamek's inclusion in every castle battle was also cool.

My main complaint with this game is that each level usually introduces a element such as water globes, but then doesn't really use it much afterwards. I wish they could have had each level in a world build off the stuff introduced earlier.

Overall, a solid game. I'm not done completely yet, though, so the hardest challenges are still to come. ;)

I'm stuck on Ludwig, but it's a fun solid game so far

Just got it a little while ago.  I'm on World 3.

I beat NSMB DS in a day, so I'm trying to take my time with this game.  :P

Got it, 100%ed it in little time at all (although not as fast as Galaxy or NMSB for DS).

What I liked:
-actually challenging at some parts (FUCK YOU World 9 Level 7)
-return of the Koopa Kids, Kamek, and the things that made the old games great
-the original levels that aren't ripping off Mario 3 and World are some of the most creative levels in years from Nintendo

What I hated:
-rips off Mario 3 and World WAY too much (half the castles and fortresses are using gimmicks from those games. Seriously?)
-graphics are horrible, even for the Wii. Looks like a polished DS game.
-While the new power-ups are fun, they're not terribly useful or memorable other than to essentially break the game. (Propeller suit ruins all semblance of platforming, Ice Flower while a good idea makes tricky jumps easy, and the Penguin suit makes water and ice levels as easy as normal levels with no trade off like the Frog suit).
-Ultimately too short. No world seems to go over 10 levels and when you've played Mario as much as any gaming vet has, you'll cruise through this no problem.

Ultimately, I enjoyed the game, and it's certainly better than recent Mario attempts but it's still not quite there as the old Mario games. Needs to be more original (which will add challenge without being cheap) and stop trying to replicate the old games. If I wanted to play mario 3 or World I'd play those games thanks.

Nayr, maybe you should not spoil whatever the game has to other people who haven't played it that much...

It's Mario. Not Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy. If you don't know what you're getting into from the get go, you've never played a videogame before X_X:;

SkyMyl

Quick question.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU FINISH 8-CASTLE WITH THREE PEOPLE!?

Funny, I think the game's even harder with more people. Even if it's frustrating, it's all so fun and very funny. The real charm comes. :D

As for your question...think.

Oh yes, I forgot. You can always try the world your cursed to. You wanted a challenge? They gave it to you. After all, that's how challenges are supposed to be: nearly-impossible to clear easily.

I finally got it today and I have to say, it's a bit harder than I expected. I can't wait to play this with some friends.
